Beginning May 1st (ending September 30th) this free and friendly competition encourages all people to get out and ride whether as daily commuters, weekend warriors, or somewhere in between. People on bikes compete as individuals, teams, workplaces and cities against others locally and across the county.

Here is how to sign-up and start logging miles:

1. Visit NationalBikeChallenge.org/ and join the Challenge.

2. From May 1st to September 30th, anytime you ride a bike, for transportation or recreation log your miles utilizing the Endomondo smartphone app or on the website NationalBikeChallenge.org.

3. TELL YOUR FRIENDS.

So take a moment sign-up for the Challenge then invite your friends, family and coworkers to join you for a little friendly competition.

Now go get out on your bike and log those miles, and spread the word on Facebook.

National Bike Challenge scoring details:

Participants in the Challenge compete as individuals, teams, workplaces, cities and states.  Competitors will be able to see their standing on both local and national levels! You can easily log your miles on the challenge website or there is an app that smartphone users can download right from a tab on the homepage to directly track and log the trips you take. All bike rides count, but a point system is in place that heavily credits daily trips giving people who use bikes for transportation an advantage (+20 points for each day you ride +1 for each mile.)

The Challenge is sponsored by Kimberly Clark LLC  and the League of American Bicyclists, and brought to you locally by Bike Cleveland.

Hello, I’m from Pittsburgh, and I understand that you are making a crown to be awarded to the winner of the “Rust Belt Challenge” between us and you on the National Bike Challenge. Is there a particular day when you are having some sort of ceremony or event to commemorate the end of the challenge? I am thinking of organizing a group ride (actually, a 200K randonneur) ride to pick up the crown, assuming we win. In order to do this I have to have a target date and time. So if you could let me know, that would be great. Thanks.
