Bike Cleveland Announces First ED

The Bike Cleveland Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Jacob VanSickle as the organization’s first Executive Director. For the past four years, Mr. VanSickle has served as the Active Living Coordinator for Slavic Village Development where he guided efforts to strengthen neighborhoods through programs promoting cycling and walking. He has also led and coordinated efforts leading to the creation of Bike Cleveland this past September.

“We believe that Jacob is uniquely qualified to lead Bike Cleveland as we make Greater Cleveland healthier, economically stronger, and more vibrant through the power of cycling, and we are looking forward to building partnerships with like-minded citizens and groups to make this future possible.” stated Christopher Alvarado, Board President.

“I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to lead Bike Cleveland into a prosperous future,” said Jacob VanSickle, “I am looking forward to working with current and future Bike Cleveland members, and the greater cycling community, to continue to grow the cycling movement in Greater Cleveland.”

By hiring an Executive Director, Bike Cleveland now has the opportunity to complement its local advocacy work by collaborating with other Ohio bike advocacy organizations to encourage the Ohio Department of Transportation to fund projects that will increase biking and walking in Greater Cleveland and throughout Ohio. Bike Cleveland and its sister organizations throughout the state will also cooperate on efforts to protect federal funding for biking and walking in the next transportation bill. “Having a network of strong local bike advocacy organizations increases our ability to ensure we get the funding Greater Cleveland needs to stay competitive by investing in infrastructure that encourages safe biking,” stated Jacob VanSickle.
